Merlin Glass Brings Classic Design to New Markets

Cornwall-based Merlin Glass has enjoyed success in the UK for more than 35 years, but, in 2010, had begun to attract sales enquiries through its website from overseas. The company decided to focus on developing the business overseas, and made the US a priority market to pursue.

With the majority of its facilities located in and around the UK, Merlin Glass was also looking for a way in which to bring its designs to potential customers around the world. The company worked with a software developer to create a highly visual and interactive iPad app, which enables interior designers, architects, and potential customers to view its product range, and play with the images to create their desired living space.

Merlin Glass decided to focus its export efforts on the US. Having gone through the ECR and made improvements to the existing website, the company went on to create a new site specifically for this market.

The ECR had highlighted the importance of tailoring marketing to the target audience to maximize its impact, so Merlin Glass researched ways in which to connect with an American client base, including listing prices in US dollars, and using imperial measurements when describing items.

Additionally, the company has placed a tremendous focus on US social media practices, leveraging the most commonly used Stateside platforms, including Pinterest, Instagram, and Google+.

Today, Merlin Glass-USA  is achieving unprecedented success, having just been named “Best of Houzz” by Houzz, the leading US platform for home remodeling and design. Chosen by the more than 16 million monthly users, Merlin Glass was voted the best in customer satisfaction three consecutive years.
